Story:
Akeila smiles as she adjusts the gold netting over Rosie's tail, running her fingers through the fringe to make sure it isn't tangled. "You sure do look stunning, don't you, girl?" she says to the mare, who merely flicks her ear back at the sound of Akeila's voice. Calm as always, despite showing signs of minor annoyance at the multitude of scarlet and gold decorations adorning her body. She's used to traditional dressage tack, not the odd ribbons, cuffs, and netting Akeila had put together for the occasion.
Akeila looks Rosie over once more to check that everything’s in order—hoof polish unscratched, cuffs straight, ribbons even, braid still tight. The fleur de lis she’d painted with glitter onto Rosie’s thigh is still perfectly in place and all of the fake diamonds glitter beautifully in the light of the cavernous arena. Akeila had never shown a horse like this before, but she’s always had a flair for beauty and decoration, so when she’d heard about the show she decided she must participate. This isn’t about winning; it’s about showing off how beautiful and regal her darling mare is.
“Alright, girl. Ready?” Akeila leads Rosie into the arena and then encourages her to make her way toward the soft, snowy spotlight on her own. Rosie perks up as she enters the snowfall, even rearing a little bit in her excitement. The stable back home doesn’t get much snow, so she eyes it with wonder as she prances around the show area until Akeila calls her and leads her out, patting her neck and cooing praises to her.
First HARPG contest ever and it was so fun to do! I hope I did everything right; I tried really hard ^u^ (Also, I never want to draw snow again)
